Apple Suppliers To Produce 72-78 Million iPhone 7s This Year.
In spite of Apple recently announcing that its second fiscal quarter earnings declined 13%, suppliers in Taiwan have reported that Apple has requested between 72 and 78 million iPhone 7s be produced this year. Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 7 at its end of summer conference, usually held in September. Last year’s event brought us the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPad Pro with Apple Pencil and a refreshed Apple TV.
As per usual, Apple has not confirmed any of the rumors floating around various blogs and forums that claim certain features and functionality of the new phone. Some of the rumors include a new design, better battery life, dual camera lenses and even the removal of the headphone jack. Whatever the updates will be, they must be significant for Apple to be ordering SO many units ahead of the product launch. Especially considering they sold 10 million fewer iPhones in Q1 2016 than Q1 2015 – 51.2 million units in 2016 compared to 62 million units last year. They seem to be anticipating a big surge in sales of their industry-leading smartphone.
Does Apple have some tricks up its sleeves to unveil with their new device, or are they being overly optimistic regarding this large production order? Only time will tell! We’ll be keeping a close eye on everything Apple related over the next few months as the excitement builds towards its various product launches for 2016.
